A new tariff-rate quota period for qualifying beef imports from Argentina opened on September 1, 2026, following the early fill of the previous Argentina beef quota.
The new quota provides 100,000,000 kg of in-quota access for the September 1–30 period. Alba is tracking utilization throughout the month so importers can monitor remaining capacity, evaluate duty exposure and plan entries accordingly.

Previous Quota Filled Early
The prior Argentina beef quota reached capacity before the end of its availability period, increasing duty exposure for shipments that did not secure in-quota treatment.
The September quota resets available capacity, but utilization can change quickly as entries are presented. Importers should continue monitoring the quota rather than relying solely on the September 30 closing date.
Duty Exposure When the Quota Fills
While quota capacity remains available, qualifying entries may receive the applicable in-quota duty rate. Once the quota is filled, subsequent qualifying merchandise may be subject to the higher over-quota duty rate.
Importers should:
- Plan entry timing around available quota capacity, particularly for shipments already in transit.
- Monitor utilization as shipments approach arrival rather than assuming capacity will remain available through September 30.
- Evaluate sourcing and entry options early if utilization begins accelerating.
