Why Importers Should Monitor the Quota
Argentina’s beef TRQ allows qualifying beef to enter the United States within the established quota quantity at the applicable in-quota duty treatment. Once quota availability becomes constrained or the quota fills, the duty treatment of additional entries can change significantly.
For importers with Argentine beef already in transit or shipments planned for later in the quarter, the pace of quota utilization can therefore have a direct impact on entry planning and landed costs.
What Beef Importers Should Do
Importers with Argentine beef shipments planned for Q4 should review expected arrival and entry timing, monitor available quota and understand the potential duty implications if quota availability changes before entry.
