CBP reported that they have collected a little over $96 billion in Section 301 duties from China and $1.1 billion in 301 duties from the EU. NY/NJ passes Long Beach to become second largest US port in June.
Shippers seeking an alternative to West Coast congestion and rail dwell times looked eastward, and the beneficiary of that change was the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The complex moved into second place in the US with a June that saw the port handle 467,763 TEU, moving ahead of Long Beach. This represented a 19.2% increase on pre-COVID June, 2019 numbers.
