Foreign producers participating in the Craft Beverage Modernization Act (CBMA) program should take a proactive approach to managing access to their myTTB accounts. The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) continues to receive a high volume of inquiries from foreign producers who have lost access to their accounts because their only designated account manager is unavailable or no longer represents the company.
When a foreign producer relies on a single account manager and no additional authorized users have been designated, the company may be unable to access its myTTB account or make CBMA tax benefit assignments to U.S. importers.
Why Multiple Account Managers Matter
Maintaining uninterrupted access to a myTTB account is critical for foreign producers that assign CBMA tax benefits. Designating multiple authorized individuals helps prevent delays and administrative issues if a key contact leaves the organization or is otherwise unavailable.
Manager Role
Individuals with a manager role can:
- Edit the foreign producer’s registration information.
- Add or remove authorized persons.
- Manage account access for other users.
- Assign CBMA tax benefits to U.S. importers.
User Role
Individuals with a user role can:
- Edit registration information.
- Assign CBMA tax benefits to U.S. importers.
However, users cannot manage access permissions for others. For that reason, TTB recommends that foreign producers designate multiple managers whenever possible to ensure continuous full access to their myTTB accounts.
How to Manage Account Access
For detailed instructions, see “Step 5 – Add Authorized Users” in our Foreign Producer Registration and CBMA Tax Benefit Assignment myTTB System User Guide.
Taking a few minutes to establish multiple authorized contacts today can help avoid disruptions and ensure CBMA tax benefits continue to flow smoothly to U.S. importers.
