U.S. AND CHINA REACH PHASE ONE TRADE AGREEMENT

The U.S and China have reached an agreement on a Phase-One trade deal, averting the Dec. 15 introduction of a new wave of U.S. tariffs on about $160 billion of consumer goods from China.

The agreement incorporates a commitment by China to buy more U.S. agricultural goods and services in the coming years and structural reforms in the areas of intellectual property, technology transfer, financial services and currency and foreign exchange.
