Import Duty Payments – Moving to ACH Debit

April 18, 2025

We wanted to provide information to guide you should you decide to establish ACH-Debit with Customs and Border Protection. The program simplifies the duty payment process once it’s in place.

  • You will need a copy of CBP Form 400, which you can find here
  • With the form open, select to Add an account
  • Add your Importer Number/Tax ID or enter your primary broker file code in the Self Filer/Broker ID field. For Alba, the code is 820
  • Complete your Company Name and Address as appropriate, add your Business Banking Info, and Sign
  • If you are an Alba client, we can support you with your application – send your completed form to our team at Tariff.Support@albawheelsup.com. We will review your form and confirm everything is as it should be
  • Alternatively, send your completed form directly to ach-customs@cbp.dha.gov

New applications will take a minimum of 10 to 12+ business days to process from the date of receipt.

The process includes a pre-note test to validate the banking information you provide.  With that in mind, please inform your financial institution of ACH Originator ID# 7005009701 to ensure the pre-note test passes successfully.  Failure to provide the Originator ID# to your financial institution may result in CBP being unable to debit your account and will delay approval of your application.

Future debits could be much larger than your financial institution is used to.  Please ensure it is aware that increased debits should be expected.

Upon successful completion of the pre-note test, a 6-digit Payment Unit Number (PUN) will be issued.

CBP may not copy 3rd parties in on emails so please forward the original email from CBP containing your 6-digit PUN to Tariff.Support@albawheelsup.com if you are an Alba client.

Once received, our team will complete the setup of your ACH account and will send a follow-up email with reporting details.

That will complete the ACH-PMS Payer application process.

If at any stage you receive a request from CBP that you don’t understand, forward the original email to us and we can assist: Tariff.Support@albawheelsup.com.
