Effects on PGAs if the Government Shuts Down – 23

With Congress at an impasse over spending, there is the potential for funds to run out and the government to shut down as of 00:01 October 1st, 2025.  Some departments are considered critical and will continue to function.  In relation to international commerce, Customs and Border Protection, air traffic controllers, and the Transportation Security Administration will continue to operate.  But many other departments will close until funding is arranged.

An added concern this time around is the potential for a reduction in force – the Government’s Office of Management and Budget has asked department heads to review activities and determine where cost cutting can be made.  

We’re expecting some Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) to be affected by a shutdown should it occur – this will impact documentation processing time where PGAs are involved.  Below is our latest overview for how we think PGAs will be affected:
