30 Years ago this month, back in 1994 in a 10×10′ office just outside of JFK Airport, Salvatore J Stile II switched on a computer, made his first call, and founded Wheels Up International, Inc. Focusing on the tough stuff – the trade-sensitive commodities that most other brokers were reluctant to touch – Sal grew Wheels Up International Inc. by leveraging the new technologies of the day and his hard work, dedication, and commitment to integrity, honesty, transparency, and credibility. Traits he still lives by.
The company made its first acquisition in 1996 – Universal Freight – expanding Wheels Up’s portfolio into more logistics services and further expanding its appeal to importers and exporters.
In 1998, Sal was joined by his brother, Damien Stile, and the partners took on something thought of as incredible at the time: Wheels Up acquired a company more than 5 times its size: 49-year-old Alba.
Alba Wheels Up International was formed.
Since then, Alba Wheels Up has hired some of the best minds in the industry and acquired some of the most uniquely qualified logistics and customs brokerage organizations in the country in order to provide its clients and prospects with an unmatched level of trade-sensitive expertise.
