AIRLINE TERMINAL CONGESTION

Due to the unprecedented demand for Personal Protection Equipment because of the COVID-19 virus we are experiencing delays and congestion at major airports in the USA.

There have been delays breaking down air freight shipments in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York (JFK). At this time cargo terminals are averaging 24-48 hours to breakdown cargo and make it available for recovery.

Due to the surge in volume and hand loading of passenger aircraft shipments are arriving split. This is taking the airlines and ground handlers additional time to reconcile manifests. Many of the airline terminals have abbreviated staff due to COVID-19 which is aggravating the situation. Charter flights are being processed in separate facilities where staff is being trained to handle these flights on short notice. This is also contributing to recovery delays.

As always Alba’s shipments are clearing customs electronically. Clearing the freight is not the reason for a delay unless USCBP or FDA have a specific hold issues.

We realize these delays are an inconvenience. Our team is proactively working with the airlines and ground handlers. As soon as we have updates we are passing them along to keep our Customers informed.   Please check with your Alba Sales Representative or one of our offices should you have a specific question about your shipments.
