The FDA has released additional resources to support organizations who need to comply with the Food Traceability Rule that outlines the recordkeeping requirements for organizations involved with manufacturing, processing, packing, or the holding of foods included on the Food Traceability List and some foods that include foods on the Food Traceability List (FTL). The FTL is available here. The requirements defined in the final rule help the Agency identify recipients of foods in case there is a need to prevent or mitigate foodborne illness outbreaks or address credible threats of health consequences as a result of foods being adulterated or misbranded.
The new resources include training on the rule, planned for 2025, to help organizations become more familiar with its requirements. Other resources available now are:
- A downloadable, electronic sortable spreadsheet template
- Minor revisions to the Food Traceability List clarifying the status of previously frozen foods on the list, as well as a new FAQ summarizing the changes
- A chart summarizing exemptions relevant to produce farms for both the Produce Safety Rule and the Food Traceability Rule
- A supply chain example for sprouts
