Department of Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) within the USDA issues notice of 2024/2025 Rate Changes for Services effective May 7th, 2024.

On May 6th, 2024 the AMS issued a notice to announce updates to rates it will charge for common activities related to the importation of various food, crop and textile items. Effective May 7th, 2024, the user-funded programs where collected funds do not cover the cost of the provided service will increase and will apply at the start of the crop year, fiscal year, or as required by law depending on the commodity.
Products affected include:
- Meat
- Poultry
- Fruits and vegetables
- Eggs
- Dairy products
- Rice
- Cotton
- Tobacco
Fees will be adjusted for the services listed below for the regular rate, overtime rate, and holiday rate:
- Voluntary grading
- Inspection
- Certification
- Auditing
- Laboratory services

Clients importing these items will start to see the increased rates in invoices over the coming weeks and months as the application dates pass.
