US Imposes Restrictions on Importation and Trading of Russian Metals

Effective 4/13/24, the importation and/or trading of specific Russian metals is now banned in the US and the UK.  Two prohibitions were issued by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control with the intention of further disrupting the revenue generation activities of Russia.  Aluminum, copper, and nickel originating from Russia are the target for this ban.

Please see the Office of Foreign Assets Control’s original determinations here:

Note: the ban also prohibits goods intended to transit through a US FTZ.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the London Metal Exchange are prohibited from accepting new aluminum, copper, and nickel produced by Russia.

If you are affected by this ban and have shipments in transit, please contact us so we can discuss your options.
