President Trump announced via Twitter that the U.S. will increase the tariff on imports covered by Lists 1-3 from 25% to 30%, effective October 1. According to the statement from USTR, there will be a notice and comment period for this increase.
In addition, list 4A tariffs will increase from 10% to 15% effective September 1 and List 4B tariffs will increase from 10% to 15% effective December 15.
These actions are in reaction to China’s announcement that it would increase tariffs on certain imports from the U.S.
